On Eagle's Wings

On Eagle's Wings
He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. Isaiah 40:29-31

Road Trip

A road trip to visit some very special people was looooonnnnnnnggg overdue!

We saw Brady play in two baseball games, and watched both Brady and Noah play some soccer. They are a pair of very active boys. The downer is we don't get to see them as often as we do Kate and Jack. The good news is that when we do see them, it's for longer periods of time.

They aren't always this lovey-dovey, but most of the time they are
sweet to each other.

Saturday was brrrrrr cold, but we braved it with jackets and a blanket over our old knees. The sun came out to warm us up and make it a beautiful day for sports. We treated Noah's team with donuts from the famous Round Rock Donut Shop. This establishment always has a crowded parking lot, people standing around outside, and a line of cars circled around the block waiting for the donuts. The kids were pretty happy about the unexpected goodies. (It was Brady's and my little secret that he spilled them out on the soccer field just before the game began! We picked them up as quickly as possible making a brief inspection before putting them back in the box! Being chocolate covered with sprinkles may have helped hide any dirt or grass.)

Noah did well in soccer. He played goalie the first half
and blocked 3 goals.

Brady had two good base hits and got to
come in on both, scoring points.

In the dugout.

We got to meet this dude. Yikes!
He wasn't that scary, actually.

No sooner had we driven up than Brady was ready with an April Fool's trick!

Nonnie! Papa! Guess what? We got a new dog! Porter's sister. LOL. I DID NOT fall for this one knowing his Mama wouldn't have stood for any of Porter's relatives moving in.

Porter looking ... well, like Porter.
This dog is HUGE! and slobbers constantly.
Blech!

Even Palin won't share a water bowl with him.

In the car between games. Just being silly!

They both have Crossfit bracelets and this shot is from a
video I took. They were both waving arms up and down trying to
beat each others' numbers.

The Royal Tokyo Steakhouse is their favorite place to eat and part of the reward for good grades. Report cards had come out on Friday, so we treated them for their AMAZING report cards! These two will go far in life ... even if they don't catch every bit of food thrown at them. I think they will rise to the challenges that do get thrown at them, though.

I-35 South in Texas is covered in blankets of wildflowers and most of them are bluebonnets, the state flower. I love looking at them and they are so thick you just want to get out and enjoy them for a while. Too bad the driver doesn't always feel the same way about it! However! Their Dad did stop once to take pics of the boys in the bluebonnets.

It's true that all good things must come to an end, and the weekends with them are too short. Here we are getting ready to come back home. They are all slicked up ready for church! Nonnie and Papa are just ready for the road!

Before we left, I made a deal with them to reward them with money for their piggy banks for memorizing Bible verses. Before we were halfway home, Brady called to let me know he had already memorized two. Now I'm going to have to figure out if I need to put a cap on how many each week and how much to pay for a short verse and a long one! Nice problem!

Meanwhile, Kate and Jack were off on their own road/camping trip this weekend with their Mom and Dad. Looks like they had a great time!

Makes me want to put my feet in the water.

You had a wonderful time, I can tell - but I bet you were exhausted when you got home! Your grands are all precious and how great to get to spend time with them. I know they were happy to have you cheering them on while they played sports. Always special times and good memories made! Love the photos and thanks for sharing!!

You covered just about everything imaginable today, my dear. Love the grandkids. One of ours is just 45 minutes away in Boerne, but we do make the trip there sometimes more than once a week for sports or music, or pick up after school.
