On Eagle's Wings

On Eagle's Wings
He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. Isaiah 40:29-31

Nonnie, I laugh, because once of the first things I told Ted ,we do not eat gravy. or sauces. too much fat. He still laughs about that. Although we do indeed have gravy. I just don't make it. So honey, I have no good recipes. Maybe some of those gravies in a jar. LOL Blessings to you, xoxo, Susie

I gave up making gravy when the kind in the jar is so much better - and no lumps!!

That juice that comes off the turkey just can't be substituted...well it can, but it's just not the same. I was always the Turkey baker, gravy maker and stuffing fixer, but the baton has been passed and now I get to enjoy the work of my daughters and it's just as delicious.

You don’t use the turkey drippings? I use those and the giblets so unfortunately I have no tips for you. I’m OK with lumpy potatoes and lumpy gravy… I love it all!

I have mixed luck making turkey graving from drippings. Some years, it's great and other years, not so good. I always have a jar of ready made gravy as a stand by just in case!

I've been cooking turkeys for 30 years now. I can't for the life of me make good gravy. I buy the jars of Heinz gravy or an organic gravy from Sprouts. I do however add some of the drippings to the gravy.

I use this recipe from Southern Living for Make Ahead Gravy. You buy a package of Turkey legs and roast them so you get that wonderful flavor. It is easy and delicious and the best part is you can make it up to 3 days in advance and just heat on Thanksgiving. I usually keep a little chicken broth on hand in case it needs thinning after sitting in the frig.
