On Eagle's Wings

On Eagle's Wings
He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. Isaiah 40:29-31

Friday Fun, Food and Friends

WARNING!!! Lots of pictures here! Blue skies and Bluegrass are linking up with Jeanne at Backyard Neighbor for Blue Monday.

Friday morning we had a rain shower and a forecast of 80% chance of thunderstorms, so we weren't sure if we would get to attend the Bloomin' Bluegrass Festival that night or not.

But YAY, the gray skies turned blue leaving some beautiful puffy clouds so we were able to go after all.

The festival is an annual activity held in the Farmers' Branch Historical Park, which is a beautiful park with huge trees, with many old buildings from the past. The nice thing is the Festival is free, parking is free, shuttle is free, food will cost you! But gee, isn't that a pretty fantastic and rare deal? We really didn't need the burgers or corn dogs, funnel cake or fried pies, tornado potatoes or kettle popcorn, did we? Of course we did!

A pretty good crowd had already gathered when we arrived.

Grilling up burgers for everybody.

Puttin' the fixin's on that burger.

Alice and Fred with a place in the October sun

Love me some bluegrass music.
"Play me some mountain music!
Like Grandma and Grandpa used to play.
Play some back-home, come-on music
That comes from the heart.
Play something with lots of feelin',
'Cause that's where music has to start."

A Victorian house taken from Gainesville, Texas

An old church. We attended a church that
looked similar to this when I was a little girl.
Maybe that's how we know this is an "old" church!

It had wooden pews just like this,
maybe a little more worn and not so shiny.

Schoolhouse complete with bell in front

and outhouse to the side of the school!
My Grandma had one similar to this up the hill a ways from the house.
My sister and I had some nice, private talks there.
We must have been bored or weird or something!

Alice and I stopped at the Victorian house porch
for a brief visit.

Cute little caboose

My Friday night date

A lovely sunset

And the hayride shuttle back to our car.

Good times!

What a great day! I love bluegrass and the old buildings are amazing. I love to prowl around places like that. Cades Cove, in the Smoky Mtn National Park has an old church with old pews just like the one pictures. It still is in use too. Thanks for sharing your day.
