On Eagle's Wings

On Eagle's Wings
He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. Isaiah 40:29-31

Sunset High Reunion of Class of '61

This was a very nice weekend for us. First, the Bluegrass Fest and then the Class Reunion for DH. It was a simple affair, held at a Mexican restaurant in the old neighborhood where he grew up. It was a place where they gathered after Friday night football back in the day. Speaking for myself, I was glad it was held in the daytime because it was a pretty good drive for us, and second of all, it wasn't a dress-up affair. Just a come and enjoy a meal with old friends for a few hours.

Even with the name tags, a lot of people still
could not recognize their old friends until taking a closer
look or recalling past history.

Many are no longer with us.
Rest in Peace.
My DH could not grasp the loss of all these
old classmates. "They're the same age as me!
How can they not be here?"

Trying to get this goofy group to pose reminded me of this one
from their past.

Yep! This is the ones that be all growed up now!!

Lots of catching up to do.

They started out in first grade and went
all through high school together.
Just good old friends having a good old time
and thankful to be here!

I'm glad you were able to catch up with school mates. That must have been such fun. I would have a hard time recognizing some of mine, I think.

We went to our 45th H.S. reunion about 2 years ago. Felt the same way, didn't recognize people!! Of course the list of those who have passed away is also hard to see. Looks like you had a nice time. So gad you went.

THat gives me goosebumps! I still have a few years before my 50th reunion, and we also were together from 1st - 12th grades...such precious memories. So glad your DH could go...and that you were there to capture it in pictures! How's the eyes??? I was thinking about you.

I'm so happy you got to go and that it was such a good time! I love the dresses on the Jr. High girls in that picture! Times have sure changed!

I had to laugh at the daytime comment. Joe's most recent reunion invite (back in PA) was also a noon-time event. He said it's because most of them are too old to drive at night now! LOL Much better than dressing up and trying to have fun when you are uncomfortable. Who dresses up anymore? Once a year for us! Love this post! Reconnecting with our younger years is just the best!
