What a beautiful welcome this morning to the first day of October, one of my absolute favorite months of the year! So many wonderful things about it!
This morning's sunrise
Sun casting a glow over the back yard
October skies seem to have a way of showing off!
This one is from October 1, 2016.
It is my hope that October will stick around longer than September did as it went way too quickly. At least October has an extra day in it!
We saw September out wishing Brady a Happy Birthday. What a wonderful grandson he is. He has so many great qualities about him and is an all-around good kid. Happy Birthday, Brady! You have a great future ahead and you excel at everything you attempt because you never give up!
Reading the birthday card BEFORE opening the gift!
Such self-control!

Other moments from the end of September.
So much love!
Kate and Jack got to meet Annie and it was mutual
affection and fun all around.
Sweet pair!
A memory from my Facebook page on October 1, 2011: "All that remains of the past 8 days are empty sippee cups, hand prints on the doors, residuals of bubbles in the tub, Legos here and there, and great memories. Brady, Noah, Kate and Jack - how we love it when you are all here."
This is the way it was then:

So September was a very good month and October holds blessings to come.
"Is not this a true autumn day?
Just the still melancholy that I love - that makes life and nature harmonise (sic).
Just the still melancholy that I love - that makes life and nature harmonise (sic).
The birds are consulting about their migrations, ...t
he trees are putting on the hectic or the pallid hues of decay,
and begin to strew the ground,
that one's very footsteps may not disturb the repose of earth and air,
while they give us a scent that is a perfect anodyne to the restless spirit.
Delicious autumn!
My very soul is wedded to it, and if I were a bird
My very soul is wedded to it, and if I were a bird
I would fly about the earth seeking the successive autumns."
[Letter to Miss Eliot, Oct. 1st, 1841]
Somewhere Autumn is looking like this!

"....if I were a bird I would fly about the earth seeking the successive autumns." I do love that quote! Happy belated to your sweet Brady. Lovely memories in those dear faces!
Loved seeing your sweet grandchildren before and now...so sweet. Such a blessing! Happy Birthday to Brady. Love the October skies...they are beautiful. Yes, I would love to be a bird and see all the "successive autumns" around the world as well. Fall is my favorite season, and here I sit in Florida where our fall is rather anti-climactic...but at least it begins to cool off and I love that!! Thank you for this lovely October 1 post!!
Grandkids bring so much joy! Happy first day of October.
What a beautiful family. I loved the old pictures, too. He has grown but still has the same "look". He is adorable....as are the other kids. Happy Birthday, Brady!!!
I hope October slows down a bit, too. September was just crazy here. Love to you- xo Diana
Nonnie, Sending big birthday wishes to Brady. All your grands are so cute. Annie seems to be fitting in perfectly. Oh how I wish my trees looked that gorgeous. All of our trees leaves just turn yellow or brown. The little Japanese Maples at least have a burgundy color. Blessings, xoxo, Susie
Stunning scenery. Happy October and Happy birthday to your grandson.
Awww, Autumn and breathtaking sunrises and sunsets. And time and memories of times with grandchildren. It's hard to think of anything better right now.
Beautiful photos!
