On Eagle's Wings

On Eagle's Wings
He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. Isaiah 40:29-31

A Challenging Hodgepodge

1. What would you say is your biggest day to day challenge?

Getting my husband to drink enough water! I constantly have to remind him to drink water.

2. May 16th is National Biographers Day. What's a biography you really enjoyed reading?

Beneath a Scarlet Sky by Mark Sullivan and We Were the Lucky Ones by Georgia Hunter.

Is this a genre you read regularly?

It seems I have read more biographies this year. I am still in the middle of Victoria the Queen and also the memoirs of Barbara Bush. Beneath a Scarlet Sky and We Were the Lucky Ones are both novel types of true stories and both were suspenseful and exciting reads. Beneath a Scarlet Sky is about a young Italian man who, through no choice of his own, is selected to be the driver for a high up SS officer. It is my understanding the Scarlet Sky book will be a movie. We Were the Lucky Ones was an amazing story of a Jewish family all of whom survived the Holocaust! After watching the PBS series of Victoria, I wanted to read more about her, and after seeing the services for Barbara Bush, I purchased her memoirs and am really enjoying it. What a neat lady!

3. How important is keeping a clean house?

I think a clean house is important, but I wouldn't say I'm a fanatic. Our house is full of stuff, but it is neat and straight unless the kids are here pulling things out to play with. The kitchen is clean, I do not leave dirty dishes in the sink and the beds are made.

Do you need to de-clutter your life?

We could stand to get rid of some stuff. (Okay ... a lot of stuff.)

4. You're the 8th dwarf. What's your name?

In light of my answer to the first question about challenges, maybe my name might be "Naggy!"

5. What's surprised you the most about your life or life in general?

That I made it past ... way past ... 25!!! That things didn't turn out quite the way I had imagined. That things are maybe far better than I ever could have imagined.

6. Insert your own random thought here.

I shared this on Facebook, however, I'm recording it here because I am so thankful to God for His continual love, mercy and goodness to us.

Sunday night before going upstairs to bed, I felt the need to check the garage. Thanks be to God I did, because the Toyota had done it again. The lights were on and the motor was running. Whoa!! Trust me, my brain was in full throttle thinking of what could have happened. I moved the car out of the garage onto the driveway for the night so I could sleep without worry.

Believing the remote start which had been installed a few years ago was the problem, we went over on Monday to get that sucker disconnected. I hope and pray that is the last incident ever with this crazy and dangerous problem!! Thank You, God for taking care of us!!!!

Nonnie,

Remote starts on cars are now becoming the standard. Our car doesn't have this feature nor do we want it but we're sure by the time we need to buy a new car then it'll be nearly next to impossible to get one without it. If there's a way to disable it, then you better believe it, DH will have that thing disconnected. The industry is placing too much importance on computerized stuff on a 3000+ mass that needs human directives not machine intervention. DH was saying a friend from work had an issue recently where his car (Honda Pilot...I think) just died on the freeway. Thankfully, he was able to get his car onto the shoulder, hit start and the engine fired up. The thing is the dealer has no idea what's causing it and when they hook it up to check for error codes none are recorded. It gets cleared out every time they connect the reader to it. I'm sure it's a software bug. What's bad is this isn't the first time this guy has had the same problem to happen. I told him that if that was our car then I'd be getting rid of it fast. I hope your problem is fixed. I know how worrying that is for you. Have a nice hodgepodge kinda day!

OMG, what a story! Thank God you checked the garage. Have a good week.

Oh my! I've never heard of that happening with a car. Hopefully the problem is fixed.

Now, I want to read the Barbara Bush book. As I read everyone's answers, I'm making a list of the biographies I want to read. Hope my library has most of them. If so, I'll have plenty of reading for the rest of the year. lol

Have a great day!!

How scary about the car. I am so glad you checked the garage and I hope that is the end of it.
I enjoy biographies too. I will have to check out the Bush one.I got a good chuckle from "Naggy".
Hope your day is special.

Wow, it's a good thing you checked the garage! I didn't know a car could start by itself... Scary!
Your biographies sound good. I've enjoyed watching "Victoria", and never knew she was such an interesting person.

So thankful you and your hubby are okay. That story was scary. Sometimes all these modern "doodads" aren't always that wonderful. Your book reading sounds very interesting. I may have to check into those. I tend to read more historical fiction, usually from a Christian perspective, but once in a while I like something totally different. I did order the book on heaven, but haven't started it yet. It is a lot bigger than I anticipated! But then, heaven is probably a lot bigger than I anticipate also!! Have a blessed day dear friend.

What a blessing that an Angel tapped your shoulder and steered you to the garage. Sure hope the disconnect works and you never have that problem again! I enjoyed your HP answers!! Have a good rest of the week!

I had heard on the news just recently about the problem with those car engines with the remote starters. Wow...so glad your intuition was working that night! I'm missing Hodgepodge today due to my teacup exchange post. Have a good rest of the week!

The car just starting up is scary, Thank God for His care over you! I've not heard that this was a problem. Glad you got it disconnected.

You were blessed about the car - I don't have a new car so I don't quite understand but I assume they can be started from a remote area? I like a clean house, but I'm not fanatical either. If I was rich I would have someone to help me clean. Water is so important I hope he starts drinking more! Haha my hubs would call me naggy too. Love, sandie

I do the same thing with my husband on drinking water. I love a clean house, use to be OCD about it but I can't do that anymore. Gosh I'm sure naggy would fit for me too. Seriously, that is crazy about your car. I love when God gives us a nudge.

I must be naggy too! Why is it our family member won't drink good cold water!

Hi, I'm visiting from the Hodgepodge. Very scary about the car. Truly, a protection from the Lord that you checked the garage. We WEre the Lucky Ones is on my Goodreads "to read" shelf. It sounds like a really moving book. I agree with you, life hasn't turned out how I planned, but God's plans are infinitely superior to my own, and I trust that.

Blessings,
