Tuesday night we took our daughter-in-law out for dinner for her birthday. Being married to a firefighter means a schedule that doesn't always permit him to be available for the holidays and birthdays. Having been married to a firefighter myself, I remember several birthdays and other times when he would be at work, but that's okay. We celebrated on other days and that is what Amy and Jason had done the night before. Still ... it's better not to have to cook on your birthday, right? So we met her and the kids for Mexican food on a very, very cold and wintry evening.
My attempts at trying to get pics of them as we left proved a little trying because Jack really, really wanted another quarter to try his hand at winning something out of this "eat your quarters" thingamajig. Actually, he wanted to climb inside the machine to get a stuffed animal because he had tried so many times and that silly hook won't cooperate!
Happy Birthday, Amy!
These pics don't do justice because I had to leave for Bible study before the sun came out and made everything really sparkle! My hope is that all the new plants survive the cold temperatures and the ice.

Oh wow! That was quite the ice storm! I know it must have been really gorgeous in the sunlight...so sparkly. But yes, I do hope it didn't damage your lovely plants. Hopefully they will come back better than ever. I'm still waiting for my ferns to pop back out since our freeze here. The Secret Garden isn't so lovely right now. But God has ways of renewing our gardens and making things better than ever. So happy you had a lovely time with family. Love those precious moments!! Thank you for a glimpse outside YOUR open window!!
You have more ice that we did, but it was so beautiful in the sunlight. Every season has its beauty!
You and your husband are thoughtful in-laws to take your daughter-in-law and grandchildren out to dinner to celebrate her birthday. I know it meant a lot to her.
And that ice! Your pictures are so pretty. I love to see ice on the trees when the sun is out and the sun causes the ice to sparkle like diamonds. I love to see the same thing on snow when it is so very white and the sun makes it sparkle.
Have a wonderful weekend, Connie!
It's good not to cook anytime, especially on your birthday. Frozen rain is really pretty on the trees.
Freezing rain is awful but the way it looks on trees etc is just magical. Its like everything is coated with crystal.
Your grandkids are so doggone cute! I can relate to the frustration Jack had with the machine!
Happy birthday to Amy too!
WoW, look at all that ice!! Glad you were able to get out and enjoy time with your family. Happy Birthday to Amy. My daughter works closely with our fire department, she is in emergency management.
happy birthday Amy!
so glad you were able to have that birthday celebration. Sometimes it can be very challenging to get together with friends and loved ones.
Your photos are beautiful. That ice on the tree with berries is really something. I'm glad it wasn't so bad for driving. Have a wonderful weekend.
Great photos. Like you, I would much rather deal with snow instead of ice.
We will soon have a fireman married into our family. We adore him and he is such a good man. I love the brotherhood the firemen all have for each other-it is like extended family that always has your back.
I hope you have a blessed, wonderful weekend- xo Diana
We haven't had an ice storm in several years. They're so beautiful but scary, too. I've always wanted to try getting a prize out of those machines, but know I'd be wasting quarters, too! ☺ Hope you have a great weekend! 💜
Glad you got to go out for dinner. We are going to a brunch today for our daughter in laws birthday which falls on Valentine's day. Cute pictures. Ice storms are so beautiful but so dangerous. Be careful out there.
