On Eagle's Wings

On Eagle's Wings
He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. Isaiah 40:29-31

Blessings in Friendship

I'm sharing this photo again for a very special reason. If ever there was a case in point, today would be it. On Thursday evening, two of my close friends, Alice and Cindy attended the Pink Impact summer night out with me at Gateway Church. Alice's daughter and granddaughter joined us for the event. It was an evening of worship, singing, cupcakes, games, fellowship and a message about the importance of community with the theme "I'll be there for you."

As the women's pastor spoke, my friends and I were all too familiar with the significance of being connected to a lifeline of friends who will be there for you through thick and thin. The points shared were:
  1. We are created in God's image and created for community. He didn't create Adam to be alone and said, it isn't good that man should be alone. He made us for relationship.
  2. Community provides the support and counsel we need.
  3. Within community, we fulfill our destiny.
“It’s better to have a partner than go it alone. Share the work, share the wealth. And if one falls down, the other helps, But if there’s no one to help, tough! ... By yourself you’re unprotected. With a friend you can face the worst. Can you round up a third? A three-stranded rope isn’t easily snapped.”
Ecclesiastes‬ ‭4:9, 11-12‬ ‭MSG

This morning as I drove home from the doctor I received a text from Cindy asking for prayer for her husband who had just suffered a heart attack while mowing the lawn, and been taken to the hospital. Unfortunately, she wasn't there with him when it occurred, but she was on her way to the hospital. I was less than two miles away and so I headed over to the hospital to find out what I could and be with him until she arrived. As it turned out, I was the last one to see him before he was taken into surgery. My friend was broken-hearted that she didn't make it in time to be with him in his pain, but we were all thankful when the surgery was over and he came out smiling. Praising the Lord together, Alice, Cindy, me and six others who had arrived gathered round him in ICU to pray for him. He is going to be just fine, but we are so thankful he had his phone on him to call 911 and that we had our networking together to have an army of praying people. Once again, the testimony is, good doctors, great God!

And oh, a kind of irony or extra blessing! His birthday is tomorrow! 65! Medicare!

Oh, Connie. When I saw this pop up I thought- I already SAW that picture earlier---didn't I? I am so glad I clicked over to read it. It just reminds me of how very precious it is to have friends we can depend on and that they are worth their weight in gold.

I am so glad you could be there with her and so happy HE had his cell phone on and realized what was happening and called for help.

Saying a prayer for him, his wife and all of you- xo Diana

Wow!! Truly a miracle that your friend's husband came through his surgery fine and all that led up to it fell into place, including the friendship connections that got everyone there for prayer and comfort! A wonderful testimony. God is SO good!
