On Eagle's Wings

On Eagle's Wings
He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. Isaiah 40:29-31

End of the Week and Kate's 9th Birthday!!!

Counting down now to school startup for another year. Where does the summer go? On Thursday afternoon, I met Amy and the kids to take them off her hands have them spend the night. Going swimming was an option, but Jack informed me he really, really wanted to go to Dave and Buster's because EVERYBODY but him had been there. Six years old seems to be a little young for that "everybody but me" game, but I told him we could do that.

I snuck up behind them at Five Below.

Grandpa got to experience a little shimmying on this!

Jack loved these vampire teeth!

They had a blast playing all the games while I chased them around making sure they held on to the cards to play with and that keep track of their winnings. Everything is electronic so you don't have to mess with tokens and tickets. It's also easier to add money on the card, too! So convenient, don't you think? Somehow it seems it would be better for them to see the money slipping away so they could get a grasp on the losses. Oh well, they had fun.

When we came home, Kate wanted to make a puppet with a sock and some rice. She's always easily entertained by making things to play with. She also wanted a box which I found in the garage. We cut out one side and she put it on her head with a ribbon under her chin to hold the thing down and said she was a robot servant and what could she do for me?

They also made swords and shields for a sword fight. I'm glad the swords were so flimsy as the sword fight became a little more real and tempers ran high! Kids can go from smiles, to laughter, to anger, to crying in a very short amount of time.

And back to sweet togetherness the following morning.

Our standard breakfast.

We invited ourselves over to Alice and Fred's house for some swim time, hot dogs and fudgesicles.

Scary boy with chocolate mustache.

Unaware of the reflection behind her, she thinks she is hiding!

Happy Birthday, Kate!!!

It was a Minecrafter theme!
I had to look it up to learn that the Nether portal
takes you to another world.
Kate's world!

Slipping and sliding.

Presents

But the best part of all ... friends to share the fun!
The lone boy in this pic is one of Kate's very closest friends.
His Dad and Kate's Dad went to school from kindergarten through high school
and are still buddies who live a couple of miles from each other.
How wonderful is that?

Such sweet kids.
The party was a success!!
