On Eagle's Wings

On Eagle's Wings
He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. Isaiah 40:29-31

Friday Foto Friends

Linking up with Deb at Breathing in Grace for Friday Foto Friends. Here it is Friday and my photo offerings today are from the past and hopefully some will be in my future! Since we had to pull out by the roots our humongus rose bushes, I am now trying to figure out what to plant. It is a large space out in the full sun, so it's going to have to be something hardy ... Texas heat hardy.

Wishful thinking!

Above pics from a park we visited in Brooklyn, New York

Reality!

I will plant plenty of the grasses. They are mesmerizing to watch as the wind blows them so gracefully. The wind is ALWAYS blowing here and some days it's just crazy wind that wants to knock you over. When you're driving on the freeway, you have to have a good grip!

abelia

autumn sage

Obsession Nandina

Vitex

I think the above plants, pics of which I have taken from the Internet will provide nice color, good coverage, and less trouble than anything else. That is my hope anyway!

Another windy, humid day out today.

Wishful thinking on my part too. Would love to have flowers like that to enjoy everyday.

I also have a wish list and reality list! My wish list would include roses, lilacs, daisies and wysteria. I used to love to see the grasses in Florida. Many people decorate with tufts of them and on the beaches, it is illegal to pull any up. Love your photos today.

Wouldn't it be wonderful to have such perfect gardens? I long for that too...but in the Florida heat and our sandy soil I have to be thankful when my weeds bloom! I have managed a few things to keep growing, but it does take a lot of work and watering! Sometimes I think it would be better to just live in the middle of the woods and not worry about a lawn or flowers....I'm almost there... Good luck with your flowers/grasses and whatever you decide. I know it will be lovely!!

I live in the middle of the woods. The only lawn we have is filled with wild flowers. I wish I could have gardens galore, but it is too shady. So, I do annuals in pots for a bit of color. I do love the grasses.

We get almost non-stop wind here by the bay, too. I love it on a warm (or hot) day---not so much on a cold day. Great pictures. xo Diana

I really like the purple vitex and the red nandina. I wonder i they grow in Florida's weather? We need to do something with our front bed to spruce it up.

Oh, mercy, I can't wait to see what you come up with to replace the roses. Thank you soooo much for being faithful to link up on Friday...I'm just sorry I'm soooo slow to respond. :( We had grand-kiddos yesterday and that takes all my time...I know you understand that, right? ;-) Happy weekend to you.

Hello,
I like the grass. I have become more and more fond of grasses. I saw a lovely garden of grasses in River Falls, Wisconsin. When I went back in the Winter it was just as pretty.
Have a blessed weekend,
Carla

It looks like you have a plan, and I like it. You have a variety of colors, textures and movement. Is the vitex what we call a Butterfly tree? Friends in Wiley have one that they have trimmed as a tree rather than a bush and it is lovely. That would be pretty and still show off the lower plants in your garden. Can't wait to see what all you do.
