On Eagle's Wings

On Eagle's Wings
He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. Isaiah 40:29-31

Easter Memories

One thing for sure, picture taking skills back in the 50's at our house were not too good. The background scenery sometimes was sad, the light was bad, and the subjects didn't always cooperate. But, all in all, the memories are sweet, no matter the picture.

My first pic with an Easter basket.

My sister and I with our little bunnies.

The dresses above were palest blue organdy with blue netting aprons,
every stitch was done with love by my precious Mother.
In March, 1958, my brother came along and my aunt made
Easter dresses for my sister and I. They were dresses of soft yellow fabric
with a floral pattern, drop waist, and tan dusters to wear over them.

That hairdo!!!!
I remember really liking the dress, but now it
is a tad weird-looking for an adult to be wearing.

The above pics are from my Easters past, but these pics are just in from one of our nephews! Two sweet girls making their own Easter memories.

We went to Good Friday service last night at church, which was very moving, and I'm looking forward to attending Easter service this evening. I always loved Easter Sunday as a young girl. There was so much to look forward to: new clothes, shoes, Easter baskets, hunting for eggs, and especially hearing the story about Jesus. I remember coming home excited about the fact that when Mary went to the tomb, it was empty and how her mourning was turned to joy when she saw Jesus in the garden. I would teach the lesson to my sister and my pretend students.

I pray that everyone has a blessed weekend as we celebrate the Resurrection of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Worthy, He is worthy of all praise and glory! Without Him, we would all perish! Thanks be to God for this indescribable gift of salvation through Jesus.

A beautiful post, Connie. Looking at your pictures from Easters in the past brought back memories of my own childhood and Easter. The first time I ever stayed away from my parents at night was the Saturday night before Easter. I stayed at my aunt's home...which was far away enough from my parents that I knew there would be no getting up in the middle of the night to come get me. SO...the only way I would stay was that I was promised TWO EASTER BASKETS! I had one at my aunt's and one waiting for me at home when I returned. :) Great barganing skills. haha.

The Easter dresses that your mom made are beautiful. What a talented seamstress she was.

And the pictures of your nephew's two little girls are absolutely adorable. I especially like the one of them all set up at the little table with their plates of food. Such a cute expression on the face of the little one next to the wall. :)

Have a wonderful day today celebrating the resurrection of our Lord. xx

Thank you for sharing these snippets from Easters past. Aren't they fun to look at and recall those special times as a child? So many precious memories from times gone bye. Loved the sweet expressions on the little girls. How fun!

Such wonderful memories of Easters past...and love those darling little girls having their tea party and playing together so sweetly. Precious. Yes, Easter is so much more than eggs and bunnies...so much more. Thank you JESUS!!!
