On Eagle's Wings

On Eagle's Wings
He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. Isaiah 40:29-31

Blue Monday

Last week was a good week, a fairly ordinary week. One day was lunch with very special friends for a birthday lunch. It was time for the trade-off of the Willow Tree figurine that I had received for my birthday. Gee, I'm going to miss seeing that on my bookcase for the next several months until it makes its way back to me.

Wednesday was lunch at a local tea room and the opportunity to make a few new friends at a BSF luncheon. That was fun and it's hard to believe that Bible Study Fellowship will be upon us in a month or so to study the Book of John.

So many things will be happening in the next couple of months. Our son and dil put their house up for sale. It sold in one day and the search was on for a new place for them. Our hopes were for them to move closer to us, but alas, it is not to be. Their hope is for us to move closer to them, but alas, so far it is not to be. DH is happy where we are and I don't want to disturb the peace by leaving the place of comfort for him.

They did find a nice home and all the action will now begin for them as far as moving, getting the new house ready and, surprise, surprise, adding a swimming pool! I think I foresee that our babysitting in the summertime for us will be at their house!! In the meantime, while they are progressing with all the work, we will be doing our share by keeping the kids!

Speaking of kids, they came to be with us on Thursday. It was fun and, although a part of our plans had included swimming at Alice and Fred's pool, an unexpected thunderstorm moved in early Friday morning and so after making a quick trip to the donut shop, we sat out on the patio enjoying the rain. DH and I love a rainy day, but the kids got bored with it and went inside to play while the old folks sat out on the porch.

Before you know it, the winds kicked in and the rains were blowing every which way and so we ran to the door only to see these little toots had locked us out! Funny!

After a few minutes, they did let us in and Grandpa enjoyed watching the rain from inside.

We played games, air hockey, and found a few other ways to amuse ourselves until the rain stopped.

After the rain, I took them to the Dollar Tree and the Five Below stores to pick out a few items just for fun!

This was Jack's favorite find.
A puppy blanket with eyes on top that
glow in the dark.

He had to take me into the closet to prove it!

Kate also found a few fun things.

Our weekend and this week will be fairly quiet as they left yesterday for vacation. I think we will rest up for the most part since we will be seeing quite a bit of them in the future.

Tonight our friends will be coming here for dinner rather than our usual Monday night eating out and then coming here. I am cooking the Pioneer Woman's Oven brisket again. It was soooo good the last time. Tomorrow will be game day with Ladies of Grace and on Wednesday, DH has an Echocardiogram. Of course, I am praying for good results on that.

And, in closing today, I am posting a photo I saw online this morning. I just don't have any words to express the sadness over the horrible acts of evil and hate that are happening in our society.

May God be with and comfort the families of these heroes who gave their lives in service.

The evil in our world is growing, I'm afraid. Come Lord Jesus! Heal our land!

Moving is a huge job! Putting in a pool will be fun for the kiddos! It's great that their house sold so fast! I hope ours does, too, when we get it listed in a few months. Enjoy dinner with your friends!

Hello Nonnie, Your photo of the Tetons is beautiful. it looks like you are having a lot of action and fun with your cute grands. Enjoy them because they grow up so fast. Ours are all in college or married. I miss those days when they were young. However, I am so proud of our grands as they work very hard to be educated for their future.

I am sure the new home search will end well. A pool is always a benefit.

Happy Blue Monday and thank you for linking today.
xo, Jeanne

We were supposed to see the Tetons a long time ago when on a trip, but the weather did not cooperate. Enjoy your time with the little ones as they grow much too fast.

Hello Nonnie! So wonderful to make new friends...thank you for visiting my blog...and now here I am visiting you. Love the pictures...and seeing your adorable grandchildren. Such a joy to have them near and enjoy them as often as you can! Our only grandson lives in Maine, which is 1500 miles away...so we don't get to see him very often. Thank the Lord for phone calls! He'll be 17 in October...so we need to stay in touch as much as possible before he takes off to start his own life ... Thank you again for your new friendship. May the Lord bless you always.

What a beautiful post...thank you...would you like to adopt a 19 year old (grinning and giggling)--neither side of grandparents seem to have time for him...never have...sad to say...

Have a beautiful day, keeping your hubby in prayer.

Thank you for you beautiful post.Pity your children not to live closer. But as wonderful their house was sold so quickly! Your grandchildren are so beautiful to see their new stuff. A child's hand is easily filled :-) And about your last picture: so sad that we live in a broken world. Until God makes everything new we have to deal with terror. Here in Europe too. First in Belgium, in France and in Germany the day before yesterday. Let's pray for all the families, yes.
