On Eagle's Wings

On Eagle's Wings
He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. Isaiah 40:29-31

It only takes a minute ...

The last stop today after running several errands was the grocery store. Being in a hurry, and ready to head for home, I hit the express lane (under 15 items) and went straight to work unloading everything onto the conveyor belt. As I hurriedly did this, it registered with me (no pun intended) that the checker had asked me a question that I hadn't heard. Apparently my lack of response either hurt her feelings or ticked her off. At any rate, her attitude as she slung my groceries (including my beautiful roast) over the glass scanner and into the sacks was very WHAT EVER!!! You know that attitude, right?

As I stood there watching her, it was clear that she had either a very sorry attitude or was simply a young girl just having a bad day and I now was part of it.

So I looked her straight in the eyes as she rang up the total and asked her. "Are you having a bad day?"

Her body language changed in that moment as she relaxed and answered yes, she was and asked me if it showed that much. Her name was Kim, and she began to confide in me what was going on in her life with an upcoming move and the uncertainties in the challenges she was facing.

I prayed for her and tears welled up in her eyes as she thanked me and said a few kind things. She put her hand out and wanted to know my name and said she hoped she would get to see me again at the store before she has to transfer.

All this happened in the space of probably five minutes. How glad I am that I didn't let the frustrations of my morning and my haste to get home interfere with an opportunity to show this young lady that somebody cared about her feelings.

Oh Nonnie...you seized that divine moment. What a blessing to that young woman. How different it would have been if you had not listened to the prompting of the Lord. I love these kinds of precious moments.

God put you in that girl's path today-that was certainly no chance encounter-but you know that- You looked beyond the obvious and saw the need in her heart-- God bless ya, sister- you did good-very, very good! xo Diana

How special that you had that nudge from the Lord to feel her pain and help her out. There are so many precious people out there who are hurting so bad and most people are too busy to notice others in pain. Thanks for letting the Lord work thru you.

Bless you!!

What a wonderful testimony of how kindness and concern for another can completely change a life. We see those miracles, just as you did, when we're quickly obedient, just as you were.

That's awesome! God put you there at that place, at that moment, for that reason. Maybe this post will be a reminder to each of us, to pay attention of that nudging. Thank you so much for sharing with us!!

People are always looking for some huge thing to do that would make a difference in the world. All of us can make a difference just by being kind, taking life a bit slower to notice the people around us. You were spot on in sensing her troubles. It doesn't take much to bring a smile or some hope to another person..just takes a caring attitude. You did good!

Being kind to cashiers can make a big difference..we do not know how their day is going. I really try to be quick and nice. I thank them and wish a nice day in return for their greeting. Thank you for treating a young lady well when she told you she was stressed. xoxo,Susie

you are indeed an angel, what a lucky girl to have you for a customer, this could have ended much worse, she could have been reported for her manner or swore at by an angry customer, she was lucky you came to her today and in doing so made her day,
