Putting on your boots and heavy coat with hood over pjs,
standing outside in the freezing rain and howling north wind at your back,
standing outside in the freezing rain and howling north wind at your back,
while holding an umbrella over your very old, arthritic, senile dog,
waiting for her to take care of business before bedtime.
The icy rain turned to snow and we woke up
this morning to about three inches of snow.
The pics below show the difference between snow in 2010 and 2015.
Sunny pics are today.
So .... it could always be worse!
The sun should melt everything by this afternoon.
Below are a couple of posts from our daughter-in-law on Facebook last night. Bless her heart!! Her husband was at the fire station last week when the ice storm came, too!
"School is closed (again) tomorrow. They're all like "driving on ice is dangerous", "stay off the roads", "be safe" blah blah blah, I get it, I really do. You know what else is dangerous??? Locking me up with these crazy kids again, THAT is dangerous. I think school should also occasionally close on a "beautiful day" so we can actually enjoy a random day off in the middle of the week and go do something fun!! Who's with me!?!"

Ice Rant Part II:
"Why? Why does my husband always have to be out in this mess???? He is at work right now, parked on the top of a bridge, trying help keep the citizens of Dallas safe.
Ladies and Gents, Do me a favor. Pray for him and all the other firefighters, police officers, etc that have to be out braving this nasty weather in order to serve others. Pray for their safety, for warmth, for rest."

Nonnie, I used to tell my girls, that it was so unfair for them to have a snow day the same day that I would. LOL. Actually we would bake stuff, play scrabble and watch movies. I know your daughter is kidding, cause she would feel so anxious if they were at school or on the bus during a bad weather episode. ...cause that is how mommies are. Bless her heart. Hope you are doing well. Just think 2 more weeks till spring. xoxo,Susie
It seems everyplace but the Northwest has been hit by snow and ICE! I hope this all clears up soon. I am especially grateful to people who go out in these conditions to serve others. (Also, I love the snow pics!)
My son is a volunteer firefighter, so I always have these dedicated guys in mind on such occasions and in fires. Very dangerous. Thanks for sharing your posts with the frustration of being home with the kids. Spring break next week!
Is this weather for you ever going to let up. I almost feel guilty living in Southern CA where our temps are high 70's today.
I love the picture of your hubby and dog....we take Molly for a walk morning and evening for her business, She had a raincoat for rainy weather.
My daughter sent pictures from her front door in north Dallas this morning. It is so unfortunate people don't listen to and heed to warnings to stay off the roads. The mayor of Knoxville, KY was assessing any person the emergency teams had to attend $50 - $100. That is only fair.
Prayers lifted!!!
Yep, that is love and I've done it a few times myself! I've been homebound this whole winter and very happy to be inside watching the snow fall and the temps never rising! I'm not sure the kids here went to school any Monday after Christmas break for about a month...it's been nuts. I have many crazy memories of driving into work when I was on call during the coldest, snowiest nights and falling in the parking lot, getting stuck in the street in front of my driveway and when we lived in town I remember walking to work because I couldn't drive due to the snow. Yep, being in a service oriented profession does put folks in danger...prayers today for your family workers!
I am thankful for all the first responders in crises like the recent snow and ice. Also the electric company repairmen! And I really appreciate Springtime
We take these wonderful people for granted, don't we? Thanks for the reminder. I sure hope the sun peeks through soon...God bless Trudy. I know it's so difficult to watch her age.
Amazing blog and very interesting stuff you got here! I definitely learned a lot from reading through some of your earlier posts as well and decided to drop a comment on this one!
