On Eagle's Wings

On Eagle's Wings
He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. Isaiah 40:29-31

Friday Foto Friends

Friday Foto Friends!

On Saturday evening after church we watched the fireworks in our town from our back porch. And on Monday evening we had a super good time at Kaboom Town in Addison with my DH, my sweet friend, RuthAnn, and her Dad, along with Gloria and Tom, RuthAnn's neighbors. The Kaboom Town show was pretty amazing with an air show, In 'n Out Burgers at one of the hangars at Addison Airport, and an amazing display of fireworks. Probably the best I've ever seen and I think they are famous for that. Unfortunately, after the party is over, you have to contend with the 500,000 who are ready to get in their cars and make their way home. Ugh!! Our 30 minute drive took two hours to get home that night, but I will say everybody was very patient and as far as I know there were no incidents of road rage. I must confess that had it done any good, I would have jumped out of my car and screamed for somebody to please STOP the obnoxious blaring music coming from some bandstand in the area. It was nerve wracking! We decided next year we will rent a hotel with a view and order food in. Sounds like a plan!

This pic is from the fireworks over the lake.

This is a plane shooting fireworks. No way was I able to capture a pic of that. I think this must be from the newspaper.

I want to save this pic of one of the nicest, sweetest couples I have ever known and who have been great friends and mentors to us. We attended their 50th anniversary party last week. Connie and Deane were associate pastors in our church for over 20 years and their impact continues as they travel all over the world sharing their gifts of teaching, mentoring, and ministering to equip others to lead and teach. We traveled twice with them to Israel and have shared many good times with them. They were also Steven Minister leaders in our church training members, including me, how to minister one-on-one to others who were going through difficult times of grief, loss, illness, etc.

Kate and Jack were over again this week and it seems to be becoming a habit to visit the mall, buy something, and ride the carousel. For Jack anyway. Kate did not want to ride as she is convinced she is now too old for that. So we watched Jack go round and round waving his new friend from Build-a-Bear!

Kate and Grandpa love playing teacher and student. He actually got to be the teacher this time.

I throw rings at Jack to catch on his arm.

I am still walking and see this beautiful cat every day. He must have a home because he looks well cared for, so I guess I can't justify picking him up and bringing him home with me.

He crosses the street to meet me.

Don't you dare cross my path!!

After two months, the kids now have their Heidi back from obedience school. I think they are all excited to be together again!

We have had several men in our church pass away this year leaving some of our ladies widows. One in particular is suffering much hardship in that her husband left her with a lot of debt, she is an invalid, and now must move from her apartment into a smaller one. My friend Victoria and I went over to help move some of her things. She is staying in the same complex, so we walked stuff back and forth from her apartment to the new one. I think it's going to take more than one trip over to get her moved. Some of the men from church will be over on Saturday to move the big items for her. These guys deserve much thanks because they help the widows in our church with things they previously relied upon their husbands.

And finally, Noah was excited about the headset we sent and the card with cash in it! Happy Birthday to Noah!

It's mine!!!

Brady is getting to be quite the expert at wakeboarding. The pic below is from a video and is a little blurry, but I am saving it anyway. Good job, Brady! Wow!

And today, Victoria, Liz, Cindy and I visited the George Bush Library. If you are ever in Dallas, I highly recommend it! Here is a link to the website and the pic below is from the website. It was especially touching to see the portraits he has painted of wounded warriors. He really cares about them and their experience.

Great photo's Nonnie. We didn't watch the fireworks this year, but did spend the day with my family.

I just loved the photos you shared...aww...on your friends...so sorry. We discuss this a lot, not leaving each other in debt etc.

Have a great Friday, and Heidi and our Coffee could be related, they look so much alike, smiles.

Wonderful photos of family, pets and fireworks Nonnie. I have stopped going to see fireworks also because of the chaos after of leaving the park. Now I stay at home and watch on TV.

I enjoyed my visit here with you this morning! You have a rich full life and are such a blessing to those around you. You know, I haven't been to the library yet! I need to go! And take someone with me!

I love the photos you shared and think those kiddos are adorable! Bless the men in your church for helping the widows with chores they can't do themselves. Such a great ministry - and you and your friend, too! One of these days, we may get to Dallas, if not before we will probably try to go for our grandson's graduation from SMU in two years.

Lots of good stuff here! I confess I've started a habit of starting to leave when that last burst of fireworks begins signalling the finale. The bottleneck is horrible later on. I would be tempted to speak up about the blaring music too! :( Cute photos of the kiddos as usual and the couple celebrating their 50th is so sweet. I know the heart break of losing a husband to death and how much kindnesses like yours is so appreciated. Have a blessed day.

We were not able to see a firework display this year as the local high school where we have always gone was not doing one. We REALLY missed it! I love fireworks and love the music that plays along with it. It's always a giant zoo scene getting out of there, but well worth it to me (and apparently many others as well, lol). Trips to the mall for a new "prize" and a ride is something we always do too. We are about ready to start on the overnighters now some of our grands on a one on one basis. I love those who honor the word and take care of the widows in their midst. I'd love to see the library! Have a good week-end!

Beautiful fireworks and I enjoyed 'meeting' your family.
I will add your widow friend to my prayers. I am so sorry for her.
I never knew this about Pres. Bush! Amazing.
Thanks for sharing my friend.

Such wonderful fireworks photos! We didn't see any, but heard plenty. Someone in our neighborhood does them every year, but we can't really see them for the trees...but they are plenty loud...and it seems they did some every night from Sat-Tues this year! I love that you are helping your friend move...and that your church will help her. That is a wonderful ministry. Your grandkids are so precious. So happy you get to spend so much time together. That is such a blessing. Thank you for sharing this with us. It is fun to watch from a distance! :)

Wow, you have been very busy. The fireworks look awesome and a hotel room would be a great idea for next year. Enjoyed all of your photos. Sorry about the lady who has to move, that is so sad.
