On Eagle's Wings

On Eagle's Wings
He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. Isaiah 40:29-31

Tuesday Tidbits

My sweet friend from Hawaii is back in town for a couple of months. We were going to meet yesterday for breakfast, but she suggested I might want to join her for a "seniors balance class" at her neighborhood athletic club and have lunch afterward. A balancing class sounded not too difficult and, as she pointed out, ladies of our age sometimes have a tendency to fall so it seemed like a good idea. It was fun, but more of a workout and longer than I anticipated! Experiencing some mild soreness today and it was fun, but I think I will stick to walking. We made up for whatever calories we burned by eating at one of her favorite Italian restaurants after our "workout!" I may need to do some serious walking now, for sure.

RuthAnn in her Texas apparel!

Today our Ladies of Grace Bible study began and so things for me will pick up. Tomorrow DH and I are going to see the new Ben-Hur movie. I'm crossing my fingers for it to be a good one!

We have doves nesting every year under our deck and we love watching them prepare the nest, then waiting for the babies, watching the parents take turns caring and feeding them, and then seeing the baby doves learning to fly. Each time they return to the nest, they fly to the fence and sit, then fly under the deck landing on the ceiling fan blade before flying into the nest. When they land, it causes the blade to turn and on a windy day, the blade is already turning. It's funny to watch them go round and round on the fan blade and wonder what they are thinking about that! But, like all of us, I'm sure it feels good to be home and have everybody snug in the nest. However, since the babies learned to fly, I'm not sure what their plan is for a future home for themselves. They spend a great deal of time just sitting either on our patio or under the wheelbarrow parked nearby. I guess they will figure it out for themselves.

The saying seems to be true:
They stick together like birds of a feather!

This past weekend, Kate and Jack were with us. Their last week of summer vacation was spent for the most part with either their Nana or us. Although they both love coming to our house, by Friday night, Kate was missing her mama something fierce, but she did very well over the weekend with us and we had a really good time. Jack never expressed his readiness to be home until we were on the way over to their new house. In our conversation in the car, I asked if they were excited about seeing their new bedrooms in the new house. What he said really touched my heart--"When I get home, I just want to sit with my Daddy!"

So sweet! All he cared about was seeing and being with his daddy. Nothing else mattered. And that he did!

Love that boy!

And here they are ready for the first day of school.

I love seeing grandbaby pics. Oh, how I wish I could share mine, but my son-in-law won't allow it. :(

You friend doesn't look like someone who needs a 'senior's balancing class'...and I'm sure you don't either...but I guess it's a good thing to prepare for the possibility of falling as we "age" with grace. Sounds like fun anyway. Love the pictures of your grandkids, esp. the one of the little boy with his daddy. That really touched my heart. Such precious children. And they both look so sweet and ready for the new school year to begin. Summer sure flew by! Now relax and enjoy the rest of your week. Blessings to you and yours.
