On Eagle's Wings

On Eagle's Wings
He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. Isaiah 40:29-31

A Hodgepodge for This Season

One of the Hodgepodge questions today is about rushing the seasons. These days, it seems the seasons are rushing by quickly enough on their own.

1. It's National Waffle Day (August 24th)...what decision are you currently 'waffling over'? (or share one you've recently 'waffled over')

I waffled a bit over whether to participate today! And a bigger decision is whether to keep the new dining chairs we ordered a couple of weeks ago. I’m undecided about them now.

2. It's the middle of August, but I'm already seeing lots of autumn-related posts. Do you think we rush the seasons? If so, does that bother you?

Yes, yes, yes. I went to Hobby Lobby a couple of weeks ago and could not believe the place was FULL not only of autumn decorations, but CHRISTMAS decorations and trees!!!

I saw (here) an end of summer bucket list that included-

make s'mores, read a new (or favorite) book in the park, eat something delicious and bad for you at a state fair, be a tourist for the day, have a pot luck picnic, book a last minute summer getaway, relax by or in the pool, take a hike to watch the sunset, have a day on the lake, try a new summer recipe

Which activities on the list might you squeeze in before summer officially comes to a close?

I’m planning a getaway, but it isn’t going to happen until the first of October. I guess I will have to settle for stepping out to the back yard and viewing a sunset.

3. Your favorite summertime 'art' found in nature?

Sunsets! No two alike. Each one is an original!!

But I also have enjoyed the puffy clouds all summer.

4. Stephen R. Covey is quoted as saying 'We judge ourselves by our intentions, and others by their actions.' Agree or no? Do you define yourself based on your intentions, your actions, or something else?

To judge myself by my intentions would be fooling myself and for me to judge others by their actions could be wrong not having a way to know their motivations and why they acted as they did. Since I make my share of mistakes I’m not sure I want to be totally defined by my actions. So I may be waffling on this answer. I have other thoughts, but sitting here now trying to express them is proving to be difficult for me.

5. Are you useful in a crisis? Elaborate.

I can be. The biggest crisis for me in which I had to take immediate action was when we were on vacation and my husband had a stroke. I could see from his face what was happening and kept calm, called 911, panicked for a couple of minutes after the paramedics took him away while I wondered what in the world to do about the rest of our trip, the luggage, and how I would get to the hospital by myself about 75 miles away. Thankfully, the tour guide assisted me with those problems and DH and I made it home several days later. While he was in the hospital, I was able to address the practical things such as making travel arrangements and working out details with the travel insurance.

6. What's been your go-to dish this summer? Is it something you'll continue making as the seasons change?

A pan seared oven roasted steak! Delicious discovery. A steak is good for all seasons!

7. Adult coloring books are a thing now. Have you jumped on the bandwagon? If not is this something you think you might enjoy?

I confess to buying one, along with the big box of colored pencils. I colored one page and half of another and decided it was a waste of time. That didn’t do it for me. I think it would be wonderful to know how to paint or play the piano better. At least the colored pencils are good for Bible studies!

8. Insert your own random thought here.

Right now, speaking of go-to dishes, I’m not sure what dinner will be this evening. Blue Apron was supposed to deliver today and so far, we have not received the box of goodies. They've never been this late before. I guess I will have to get creative since there are no steaks in the fridge! As it turned out, I had some Italian sausage and cheese tortellini to "go to" which made for a good supper this evening.

And yesterday, I mentioned going to an exercise class. Saw this today and thought it was funny.

LOL at the sign about exercise....I like to walk, but that's the extent of my exercising. Those sunset pics are gorgeous....of course, you know how much I adore sky pics, anyway! Great answers....I get waffled over by too much screen time...now who's fault is that?!?!? ;-) Happy Wednesday!

Lol about your last comment/graphic....this old lady here has to take P.E. this semester, sigh....

I waffled and did not do the Hodgepodge today. Have a beautiful day friend.

Can't wait to get my new range installed and make a pan seared oven cooked steak! I love the cartoon at the end, and sadly relate a little too well : ) Enjoy your day!

Oh what sunsets you have there my friend! Absolutely gorgeous! Yes, you do sound qualified to take over in an emergency. So glad Hubby is doing well now. I loved your exercise sign because I just got back from the gym. These days it is a conflict between knowing I have to go and knowing I'd rather not. Have a good weekend.

Blue Apron boxes intrigue me, and I think we would enjoy them. As it is we love creating menus for a week of meals.

What beautiful sunsets! Do you like Blue Apron? I'm never sure about subscription boxes...

Sunsets and clouds are always beautiful. I was at Hobby Lobby yesterday and Christmas was everywhere. Much too early for me. I am anxious for the cooler fall weather.

Hi,
I answered the same to #2!! I felt like I was in a different world when I entered Hobby Lobby. Ha! With the A/C cranked in the store it felt like Winter too. Hee Hee!
I am very proud of how you handled your crisis situation. I know when it comes to family members it is a little harder for me.I am happy things are well today.
Have a blessed day!

Oh my goodness, your husband had a stroke while on vacation! Now that WAS a crisis! I'm glad everything worked out okay.

I love your sunset pictures. We live in an area where sunsets aren't visible because of trees.

It's crazy that Hobby Lobby puts out their Christmas stuff so early, isn't it?! By December everything is already gone...

I love sunsets and steak too. And I so agree with your random thought :) What a scary situation that must have been when your husband had a stroke. Glad it all worked out.

You know, I can forgive Hobby Lobby since a friend explained to me that the crafters who want to create gifts and/or decorations for Christmas, have to start a few months ahead. So Hobby Lobby, Michael's and other crafting/hobby stores get a pass. The other stores...not so much. They are just rushing the shoppers to buy, buy, buy. That last graphic about exercise...totally me. LOL

I love the last picture about exercise. I manage to drag myself out of bed to exercise with my hubby at the Wellness Center, don't like it, but am happy I went afterwards.

Stunning photos of the sunsets...Beautiful. I'm a crafter and I make a lot of my christmas gifts, so I do appreciate the early start at Michaels. But I don't get the same warm and fuzzy feeling at other retailers like Costco and Target. Enjoyed reading your answers and I hope you have a good week!
Cheers!

Haha! to the random. :-)) I love sunsets, sunrises, and clouds too. Up here, September seems to have the best sunrises and July the best clouds. At least that's my opinion after perusing my photo files. Hope you have a nice upcoming weekend. Don't go splurge on all those Christmas decorations. LOL

Nice photos. They look very good.

Your sunset photos are beautiful. :)
I know that had to be a terrifying ending to your vacation. We were home when David had the first stroke and in the hospital for the next two. That was scary enough. I can't imagine being so far away from home and having to deal with something like that. I am glad you were able to take care of things for both of you.

Have a blessed week. :)

The sunset pictures are just gorgeous!! How scary about your husband's stroke on vacation! So glad everything turned out ok. I enjoy the adult coloring books but the hardest thing is finding the time.

Blessings,
Jill

I love the summer skies and the sunsets they bring. Your oven roasted steak sounds yummy. I color from time to time but I don't necessarily find it calming which I thought it would be. I've been wondering about Blue Apron, do you like using them?
