On Eagle's Wings

On Eagle's Wings
He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. Isaiah 40:29-31

Hodgepodge from the 40's

Thank you, Joyce for this trip down memory lane for this week's Hodgepodge. Get the questions at her blog  From This Side of the Pond and join the fun!

1. In a single sentence tell us something about your 40's. If you haven't reached that milestone yet tell us (in a single sentence) something about whatever decade you're in now.

My 40’s were fabulous! At 40, I was still a newlywed of 2 1/2 years and so happy I had to constantly pinch myself.

2. Life begins at forty. Agree or disagree? Tell us why. And if not at forty, when?

I don’t know about that. Life begins when you realize time isn’t a thing to be squandered, but enjoyed. It’s being thankful for where you are and not looking back in regret, or looking for something in the future to make you happy.

3. Share a favorite book, song, or quote with a number featured in it somewhere.

Can't say it's a favorite, but the first song that came to mind was 76 Trombones from The Music Man. After thinking about it, one of my favorites was Marvin Gaye with It Takes Two!

4. A picture's worth a thousand words, a stitch in time saves nine, back to square one, catch-22, on cloud nine, my two cents...pick a number phrase and tell us how it applies to your life currently.

One is the loneliest number (3 Dog Night) I miss my DH.

5. Last time you drove more than 40 miles from home? Back in March, I drove to Tulsa--about 250 miles. More than 400 miles from home? I can’t remember. Where were you going? Was it before or after this current season of social distancing? Before

6. Insert your own random thought here.

I’ve stayed very busy during this year and through this season of quarantine with plenty of social contact through zoom, sidewalk visiting with neighbors, Bible Study, church and family. I’ve tried to blog without much success and one of my problems is that I discovered when I download my photos they go to iCloud and I can’t figure out to upload into a blog. That’s my excuse and I’m sticking with it.

Today my friend RuthAnn and I went to the first day opening of the Dallas Arboretum. It was a lovely day with proper spacing between guests and everyone was limited to a four hour period by reservation.

And so here I am 31 years later.
Bless the Lord, O my soul,
I cannot forget all Your benefits!!!
You have been so good to me.

What beautiful pictures of the arboretum. Glad they opened and you were able to go with your friend. Thanks for sharing that scripture verse. It is so encouraging, especially knowing the deep loss you feel.

I can't tell you how thrilled I was to see your post this morning. I really miss you, but can understand your absence. Your answer to #2 is so good and so true, but your answer to #4 breaks my heart. Loved the pictures from the Arboretum and so glad you and RuthAnn were able to enjoy such beauty together.

I love all the pictures. You have to open the cloud pictures and save them to your computer pictures...then you can post from there. That is what I do anyway.
Love your answers and I am glad you are staying busy...I know how much you miss your hubby. xo Diana

The Arboretum looks like a wonderful day out without a lot of worry about crowds and 'rules' that kind of weigh on us most places we go. I liked your answer to #2.

That's so awesome about your 40's. Good answer for #2 about "life begins at forty." I always enjoyed hearing that song from The Music Man. ((Hugs)) Sorry about downloading your photos. I would be very frustrated. Take Care....

Great pictures. I know my pictures go to the ICloud, but I have not accessed them there. I get pictures from my IPhone and Email then to myself. Then I can download to my laptop to use on my blog.
