On Eagle's Wings

On Eagle's Wings
He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. Isaiah 40:29-31

Abundant Satisfaction

Who can satisfy my soul like You?
Who on earth could comfort me
And love me like You do?
Who could ever be more faithful, true?
I will trust in You; I will trust in You, my God

Another busy week is over and the Lifeway Women's Conference as well. I was eager for it to be here and sad it is over, but it is now a treasured memory. So many good speakers and the praise and worship led by Christy Nockles was fabulously refreshing and very satisfying! The theme of the conference itself was Abundance and this morning as I did my devotions I couldn't help thinking about the two words, abundance and satisfy

To satisfy is to gratify wants, wishes or desires to the full extent; to supply possession or enjoyment till no more is desired. The adjective abundant is plentiful; in great quantity; fully sufficient; as an abundant supply; in scripture, abounding; having in great quantity; overflowing with.

Just last week in Bible Study Fellowship, one of our study questions was regarding what things we try to satisfy ourselves with. Most everyone agreed that it is about "stuff", but in addition to that, we look for satisfaction in approval and acceptance from others, love, significance, security, money, power and control.

So I had to find some verses using those words. I am recording here only a few of them. Is it not a wonderful thing to think about the fact that when we surrender our hearts and lives to the Lord that He will satisfy our desires to the full extent? Not just a little bit, but overflowing! The desires of our hearts may be small or large or many, but if the chief desire is for Him, He will fully satisfy!

God is good.
"The Lord God is abundant in goodness and truth." Exodus 34:6. "My people will be satisfied with My goodness," declares the LORD. Jeremiah 31:14 (NASB)

He is merciful, always supplying His lovingkindness and truth.
"You, O Lord, are a God merciful and gracious, slow to anger and abundant in lovingkindness and truth." Psalm 86:15 (NASB)

I am weak, but He is strong.
"Great is our Lord and abundant in strength; His understanding is infinite." Psalm 147:5 (NASB). "My grace is sufficient for you [My lovingkindness and My mercy are more than enough--always available--regardless of the situation]; for [My] power is being perfected [and is completed and shows itself most effectively] in [your] weakness.” ‬‬2 Corinthians 12:9 AMP

He came to give us Life - Real Life!
"The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I came that they may have life, and have [it] abundantly." John 10:10 (NASB)

God is gracious.
"the grace of our Lord was more than abundant, with the faith and love which are found in Christ Jesus." 1 Timothy 1:14 (NASB)

He satisfies my soul.
"Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied. Matthew 5:6 (NASB)

Every day He satisfies.
"O satisfy us in the morning with Your lovingkindness, That we may sing for joy and be glad all our days."  Psalm 90:14 (NASB) "You open Your hand and satisfy the desire of every living thing." Psalm 145:16 (NASB)

So His question to us is:
"Why do you spend money for what is not bread, and your wages for what does not satisfy? Listen carefully to Me, and eat what is good, and delight yourself in abundance."  Isaiah 55:2 (NASB)

A wonderful post, Connie. I am so glad you were able to get away for a weekend of refreshing and uplifting. We all need that. I have not been in a bible study group in a long time and we have been looking at different churches before settling into one. I am glad you have that group and are so connected. xo Diana

What a great and lasting testimony to a wonderful weekend in God's Word and fellowship with God's women.

My heart breaks for members of my own family that are not pouring God's word into their lives on a daily basis. It's truly the answer. Thanks for sharing your weekend with us. Beautiful post.
