On Eagle's Wings

On Eagle's Wings
He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. Isaiah 40:29-31

A Sensible Hodgepodge

How can it be that another Wednesday is already upon us? Time is truly speeding by so quickly these days. But it is what it is and another Wednesday means it's time for fun with the Hodgepodge questions from Joyce. Thank you, Joyce, for the great questions each week.

1. What would you say is your strongest sense?

Definitely not smell! I was always the one who didn't "scents" when the babies had dirty diapers. It therefore stood to reason that I would be the one least bothered by changing them!
I think my sense of touch.

2. Do you believe in the idea of a 'sixth sense'? Yes.
Why or why not? I think it's intuition.

3. When do you most feel like a slave to time? In the mornings.
Explain. Mornings are my favorite time of day and very precious to me. I really like having a couple of hours in the morning to drink coffee, read my Bible and pray, so I make it a point to arise early each day to allow for that. However, it seems lately that I'm a slave to the times set by others, i.e., most mornings are when doctor appointments, Bible studies or other appointments are invariably scheduled and I have to get in the shower, get ready, fix breakfast for DH and do the rush around.

4. Have you ever worked in a restaurant? No.
How would you rate the experience? If you could own a restaurant what kind would it be?
A tea room/bakery might be fun.

5. Ever traced your family tree?  No, but my Grandad did.
Share something interesting you learned there.
That the first of the Leverich line came over as a missionary to Indians and that there was some connection to Ben Franklin's family ... I don't remember how and it doesn't matter enough to me to check it out. The family tree is interesting, but I'm not interested in tracing it down myself. It has been in the back of my mind though to do a DNA test to see what the mix is in my family as I have a blood disorder which is found in people of Mediterranean descent. I would be interested to find out about that.

6. What did your childhood bedroom look like?

Our bedroom was simple. Flowered wallpaper, hardwood floors, a bedspread of some kind, the piano and a dresser. My sister and I shared the room and the double bed. When I was 12, we moved to a new house and our bedroom had blue walls, white curtains, a white chenille bedspread with pink and blue floral design. New bed and new dresser. Very small and therefore again, very simple.

7. Anyone who knows me knows I love_______________________?

Jesus, my family, and CHOCOLATE!!

Or just give me a bag of these!

8. Insert your own random thought here.

Do you ever wish you could do a redo or undo in life?

Our fun weekend activities ended on a sour note as we left the class reunion on Saturday. A car pulled out in front of me causing me to slam on the brakes and be rear ended. Bummer. The plus is the guy who hit us was very polite and so we were able to exchange information without any drama. Now we have to go through the business of car repairs and it's a big inconvenience. Wishing we had stayed at the reunion a few minutes longer ... or left earlier ... Or maybe not gone at all. Blah, blah, blah. Wah-wah.

Hi Nonnie,
I am sending a hug and prayer regarding the accident. I am happy no one got hurt. I do understand what you mean about the inconvenience and saying/thinking, I should of stayed longer/left early .... yep, I have been in your shoes.

I enjoyed reading about your bedroom, sweet.

Good morning. I am so sorry about the accident and hope the process of getting the car repaired goes quickly and smoothly. I was rear ended on 635 in Dallas several years ago, so I share your frustrations. Hope you have a good rest of the week and get to spend at least some of the mornings the way you most enjoy.

Good morning and I loved your responses....especially number 8. I am always wishing for a do over. Glad you are all ok after the accident. I have been rear ended twice and it is not fun.

I enjoyed your answers. I think mornings are my busiest although I don't always have to do it by the clock. When I was working as a nurse, my whole shift was guided by the clock and I hated it. Your child hood bedrooms sound so pretty. I'm sorry about your accident after the reunion. Hopefully all will be resolved easily. Have a great day.

"Jesus and chocolate" is a wonderful combination :)
So sorry about the 'mishap' on the way home from the reunion :( I hope repairs can be resolved as painlessly as possible, and praise the Lord, that nobody was injured!

I am so sorry to hear about the accident and hope that no one was injured. Yes, I often think and undo or redo would be a great thing!

Your childhood bedrooms sound pretty. :)

David and I would like to have the DNA tests done, too. I think they would be a great addition to the research that I have already done. It might also lay to rest various things and document others.

Have a blessed day!

A life redo would be nice. However, by missing some of the bad, we might also miss some of the good. Have a great week.

So sorry about your accident. I like what you said for the time question. I feel the same way, and was whining a little on Monday because I had to be somewhere so early, and didn't get up early enough to have time for all the things I like to do to set the day on track. Have a great day!

Ah heck, I'm so sorry to read about the auto accident. Sometimes that "undo" button would be nice if we could use it in life. I've not read more than 6-8 Hodgepodges so far, but I'm the only one who had a room to myself growing up. I had no idea that was so special! Or maybe learning to share space at a younger age would have been a better life lesson. Happy Wednesday! Hope your car is fixed soon!

So sorry to hear you were rear ended. Glad no one was seriously hurt. That chocolate cake looks so good. Actually I made a chocolate wacky cake tonight and this afternoon I had a handful of chocolate chips. Guess I am having a chocolate craving ;)

A tea room sounds perfect. Just reading about the DNA test and there is a commercial on TV for just that! That would be very interesting to try. So sorry about the accident. Glad you were not injured. I was just starting a post on a re-do for 2016 but not sure I will ever get around to writing it!
