On Eagle's Wings

On Eagle's Wings
He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. Isaiah 40:29-31

Throwback Thursday

Today will be busy, but looks to be a fulfilling and productive one. I'm meeting our Ladies of Grace leader for coffee and a visit about (I think) her agenda for next year's Tuesday morning Bible study. We shall see what comes out of this meeting/discussion.

Then I'm meeting a very special friend for lunch. We meet twice a year on our birthdays. Tomorrow will be mine, so we are celebrating a day early. I think the good thing as we grow older, with different schedules and more separated by distance from each other, our birthdays provide us with the opportunity to stay connected. And we pick up where we left off. Also, we don't just celebrate one day with one party, you get to celebrate many times with different friends. That's great and I have several lined up our the next few weeks.

I'm also getting my haircut today. Yay! Much needed.

Tonight we will be having dinner with our buddies, Fred and Alice, and then come back to the house for the final episode of Downton Abbey. 😍 Now DH and I have already seen all of the episodes of DA, but they have not. So I find myself watching these with the same emotions all over again as though I didn't know what is coming up next. And tonight, I am sure I will be sad all over again at the fact that it is the last one. 😥

I wonder how my sweet mom was feeling about 67 years ago today. I bet she was ready to get this 10 pound weight out!

My birthday and Mother's day are only two days apart this year. Remembering her always, but especially this week  - and in memory of her too short life. "She is worth more than precious gems! . . . She is a woman of strength and dignity . . . When she speaks, her words are wise, and kindness is the rule for everything she says. . . . Her children stand and bless her. I bless the memory of my sweet mom.

Thank you for your love throughout your years on this earth. I know you are with Jesus and in a state of bliss that cannot be imagined.

One of my mother's favorite songs:

I would love to tell you what I think of Jesus,
Since I found in Him a friend so strong and true;
I would tell you how He changed my life completely,
He did something that no other friend could do.

No one ever cared for me like Jesus,
There's no other friend so kind as He;
No one else could take the sin and darkness from me,
O how much He cared for me.

All my life was full of sin when Jesus found me,
All my heart was full of misery and woe;
Jesus placed His strong and loving arms about me,
And He led me in the way I ought to go.

No one ever cared for me like Jesus,
There's no other friend so kind as He;
No one else could take the sin and darkness from me,
O how much He cared for me.

Ev'ry day He comes to me with new assurance,
More and more I understand His words of love;
But I'll never know just why He came to save me,
Till some day I see His blessed face above.

No one ever cared for me like Jesus,
There's no other friend so kind as He;
No one else could take the sin and darkness from me,
O how much He cared for me.

How nice to meet up with your friend for your birthday! Happy Birthday! I was sad to watch the last episode of Downton Abbey, even though I think they ended it at the right time. Lovely tribute to your mom!
