On Eagle's Wings

On Eagle's Wings
He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. Isaiah 40:29-31

Wednesday

Today has been a mixed-up, crazy kind of day filled with disappointment, anxiety, tension, embarrassment, frustration, anger, confusion, relief, sadness ... I will stop there.

Tonight as I look out my window and see the light in the sky as the sun goes down and casts a beauty upon the cattails that are still wearing their beige winter color, and that spring green on the trees and the grass and shrubs that shouts it's springtime, I have to marvel at how peaceful it all looks. A thunderstorm tried to come over us this evening, but faded away. I'm praying that the storm inside me will fade with a good night's sleep. I know that the problem is minuscule in comparison to the God I know who is watching over us.

The doves come every year to build their nest under our deck. I don't know whether the same doves or the babies from last year are coming or just how they know this is a very safe place. All I know is they are protected from the rain, the storms, and any predators. I know about that because there is a black cat who has stalked in the past, but I guess finally gave up. I love watching the whole process from the time they rebuild the nest until they teach their babies how to fly. So, that old familiar song comes to me now:

Why should I feel discouraged?
Why should the shadows come?
Why should my heart feel lonely?
And long for heaven and home.

When Jesus is my portion
A constant friend is he
His eye is on the sparrow
And I know he watches over me
His eye is on the sparrow
And I know he watches over me.

I sing because I'm happy
I sing because I'm free
His eye is on the sparrow
And I know He watches me.
