On Eagle's Wings

On Eagle's Wings
He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. Isaiah 40:29-31

2014 Wrap Up

Ready or not, here it comes!
(Since the purpose of my little blog is
to record some of life's happenings, it has to be now or never!)
My visits to Blog land have been few and far between in the last month
due to being sick and not really having an interest in anything.
But, here it is already mid-January, 2015!
There has to be some kind of a wrap-up to 2014 before Spring!!!

December began with the promise of lots of special Christmassy events,
a few of which I posted earlier in December.

Mid-December, our Ladies of Grace had its Christmas brunch and White Elephant Exchange.
Because my brother had meetings in Dallas, he and Susan came to stay with us,
so it was especially sweet to have her attend the brunch with me.

Susan on the far right!

Christmas was coming, gifts were ready and wrapped,
plans were made and we were ready to roll.

First visit was daughter, Sara, along with grandsons, Brady and Noah.

We had such a good time with them and took the boys to play Top Golf.
They're happy just hanging out at the house watching movies,
and especially they enjoyed playing with the flying drones we gave them.
Having Kate and Jack spend the night with us made for even more fun together.

Noah was especially proud of the bell he received from one of Santa's elves
who visited his school. He never let that bell out of his sight. It reminded me of
the little girl, Zuzu, in It's a Wonderful Life who loved her flower so much!

These kids love their iPads.

Brady read a book to me.

Dear Heart with his sweet kids, Sara and Jason,
celebrating Jason's birthday.

So, this picture was taken on the afternoon all the kids spent the night.
We all went to church together and Chick-Fil-A afterwards and stayed up to watch a movie.
Such a good time.

The next morning, after pancakes and bacon,
Sara and the boys left to go be with their Oma.

Long story short, as soon as they left,
I got hit! And hard!

For the next two weeks, my bed, fever, cough and headaches were
my constant companion, and then, if flu wasn't enough, pneumonia!

Jason's birthday celebration, Christmas, New Year's came and went.
Merrymaking, gift giving, being with the family,
seeing the kids open their gifts Christmas morning,
all the fun of that will have to wait until next year.
Wasn't able to make the annual cheesecake for Jason.
Didn't get to make the longed for trip back home to Tulsa.
It was sad missing out on all the festivities,
but sometimes ... that's just the way it is.

2014, you were filled with both good times and the hard.
2015, I know you will be better, but I also hold to God's promise:

  9. Beautiful photos of the good times. None of us want to take photos of the bad times, do we? Your family is beautiful and I know it was difficult to miss all the fun "stuff" of Christmas. Glad you're feeling better. Glad Dear Heart did not catch any of your germs. Someone's gotta stay well to be the "nurse". True, huh? This is gonna be a much better year. I'm sure of it!!
