On Eagle's Wings

On Eagle's Wings
He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. Isaiah 40:29-31

Rolling with the punches

Working on it! :-)

Getting ready to go on vacation is hard work.

So while we're about getting ready for vacation,
Dear Heart says, "how 'bout we get the house painted while we're gone?
That way, it will all be nice and finished when we return."
Wah!! Wah!! It's not that easy.

(Takes time for me to adapt)

Long list of things to do and you're adding to it?
packing for ANY kind of weather
enough for TWO weeks?
and in one suitcase.
getting along without ALL the "necessities"
(you know: hair stuff, i.e., different size brushes, dryers, curlers, it's ridiculous)
doctor appointments
getting everything ready for the painters
moving plants
planning for watering of said plants
haircuts
(Trudy too)
Shopping
(Why is it always about hair and clothes?)
Arranging for petsitter
preparing for any unforeseen emergency
pack a list of medical records
(and feeling somewhat apprehensive remembering what happened on our last vacation)***
"Oh yeah," he asks, "how 'bout we get the inside of the house done
while the painters are here?"
Seriously?
give strangers the key to my house?
combination to the gate locks?
move all the furniture to the center of the rooms before we leave
only to face all that upon my return?
No way!
Isn't it enough that I am preparing myself
for a lot of the adventures scary things we have planned for said vacation?
Things that are way out of my comfort zone?
Things that weren't at the top of the list for me

But I am not whining.

It will be fun!

I'm excited we get to go somewhere we've never been
(Alaska - where majestic and breathtaking scenery awaits).
I'm thankful we are BOTH in good health for going.
I'm very, very thankful in all things.
But I really, really do
like being at home.
I like it here.
(Got my trusty binoculars to help spot any bunnies
that might be hiding out there)
Trudy and I both agree that the view from my window is just great!
And that's the truth.

***This parenthetical statement is at the heart of the anxieties about going away.
While the above post might seem shallow and ungrateful,
I realize the privilege of being able to do all these things.
It's just been a crazy, crazy year.
I still see the glass half-full.
That's all.

"Casting my burden upon You today, knowing You will sustain me ... casting my cares because You care. You are compassionate and have covenanted with me for peace. You are my peace.
In the multitude of my anxieties, your comforts delight my soul."
(Psalm 55:22; 1 Peter 5:7; Ephesians 2:14; Psalm 94:19)

I TOTALLY understand your apprehensions - I go through the same "mind bickering" every time we travel. Given the experience of your last vacation I can see how you have a lot of extra concerns but once you've worked through your "To Do" list and are in travel mode, I predict you'll have a wonderful time. . .I'm like you though, there is no where I enjoy more than my own home!

Oh-I hear you- I have the same type of anxieties when we go away, too. AND MyHero always seems to come up with a list to add to the anxiety! xo Diana

Be at peace, my dear, you are going to Alaska!
Enjoy every minute of it. Even seasoned travelers are bowled over by Alaska. I know, I worked as a travel agent for 18 years and I have seen and heard them!

Hi There,
I'm a member of the Sweet Tea Gang...I've been blogging less, sort of a self-imposed hiatus for the summer. Welcome to the world of happy, caring and 'real' people. We seem to have made some solid relationships in a wi-fi world.
Stop in when you get a chance and welcome aboard!
Hugs~

Nonnie,
You are so right, I used to hate all the work associated with getting ready to go on vacation. Maybe that is why I skipped quite a few of them. :)
Thank you for your kind comments at Spots and Wrinkles. Nice to meet you. -Marsha

I remind myself that once I'm there most of those anxieties never materialize. Enjoy! Sounds fabulous! As much as I'd love to have a freshly painted interior without having to deal with the day in day out mess, I would have trouble leaving painters in my house for an extended period. Outside-okay.

Have fun!
