Pink roses at the grocery store
As usual, I overdid it buying bananas and apples last weekend, so I made banana bread, and banana, apple, oatmeal muffins! Delicious right out of the oven with a cold glass of milk! Making both recipes simultaneously proved to be a little confusing for me. After putting the loaves in the oven, a few minutes later I remembered I had forgotten to add the walnuts! You can't have banana bread without nuts - you just can't! So even though this was a new recipe, I opened the oven and poured in the nuts and stirred them just a tiny bit because they had already begun to bake. The result was just fine and the nuts actually were toasty and that made it good. This particular recipe had you roast the bananas in their peel before putting them in the batter and also browning the butter. It was the Best Ever Banana Bread!
We went to see this movie on Thursday and if you get a chance to see it, I highly recommend it. A good, inspirational, uplifting, clean movie based on the life of a college football player!
Roll up that sleeve, DH.
Flu shots today!
Several months ago, some of us were talking about how much fun it would be to go try our hand at Painting with a Twist. For my birthday, Amy gave me a gift certificate to go. It never seemed to work out to get anybody to go with me, so I finally picked a date and went by myself. As is my habit, I arrived thirty minutes early and asked if I could just come in and wait. The sweet young lady informed me that I was the only one signed up for that time and come on in. What a treat! We enjoyed visiting and she helped this lady who always hated art class because I have no artistic ability. But, here you see what you can do with a little assistance.
I actually hung it in the hall upstairs. Haha!
I agree. And now I have to say I think I am guilty of complaining too much about how quickly this year is going. Next week will be the middle of September. Whine, whine. Our daughter posted the above poster on Facebook and said she showed it to her sons and told them she was going to hang it in their rooms!
A pale pink in the sky this Friday evening.
